11 signs you are struggling to accept yourself –  Know, Love, and Trust Yo’self

To recap quickly: over the last few days, I’ve been talking about self-acceptance. First I shared that you’re probably not reaching your goals because they are intended to make YOU better not help you develop into your true self. Next, I shared that there’s nothing wrong with you so stop trying to fix yo’self.

Today I’m going to share the signs that something is up when it comes to your levels of self-acceptance.

Having signs helps me to see that something is off, so my hope is that it’ll help you as well. Let’s get started!

11 Signs You Don’t Accept Yo’self:

  1. You constantly seek external approval
  2. You are highly critical of yourself and/or others
  3. You binge self-improvement in hopes of being “better”
  4. You feel sad. Maybe even depressed*
  5. You constantly compare yourself to others
  6. You’ve struggled with body image issues in the past
  7. You make disparaging remarks about yourself
  8. You’ve been through something traumatic in the past
  9. You struggle to say ‘no’ when you want to
  10. You are a chronic people-pleaser
  11. You struggle with putting yourself first, period.

Now, this is not to beat you up, because you probably do enough of that all on your own (see #2). This is to increase your awareness so you can change it.

(* caveat: I said feeling depressed. If you ARE depressed make sure you’re seeking medical attention)

To change this or to get better at accepting your true self, the key is to practice self-forgiveness, grace, and self-love.

What can you forgive yourself for today? And on the flip side, What can you celebrate yourself for today?
