14 self love exercises to help you be more loving towards yourself know love and trust yoself

How you treat yourself has an affect on how you show up in the world and how other people treat you!

When you’re kind to yourself, you have more strength and resilience to deal with difficult times. You may even find yourself attracting more affection from others when you love yourself wholeheartedly. Accepting yourself brings you closer to discovering your inner beauty and sharing it with the world.

An important way to increase confidence is to confidently pursue your own passions & dreams instead of comparing yourself to others or blindly following external or societal expectations.

Study these 14 self love exercises to help you let go of judging yourself so that you can love yourself more.

There are 3 types of self love exercises: the physical self love exercises (i.e. what you do) and mental exercises (i.e. what you think) and the spiritual exercises (i.e. how you experience yourself in the grand scheme of things)

Physical Self Love Exercises:

Eat healthy

Self-care is a major aspect of loving yourself, and having a balanced diet is fundamental. Nurish yoour body with nutritious whole foods including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Also try to avoid lots of refined and secret sugar. This will keep you from feeling sluggish and down.

Move your body regularly

Add movement at least a few times week to strengthen your heart and muscles and increase your balance and flexibility. Incorporate more physical activity into your day by going for walks, biking to work, or parking further away and walking, or (if possible) taking the stairs more often. I know when I am struggling to focus, going for a walk helps me to increase my energy and I feel better afterwards.

Sleep well

Give your body adequate sleep and rest. Go to bed at the same time each night and invest in ergonomic bedding that supports proper posture. If you are using screens (phone laptop computers or tablets) get some blue light blocking glasses to reduce the strain on your eyes and increase your sleep quality. Schedule playtime/downtime

Take a break from being serious. Playing board games, hanging out with friends, or sharing a laugh helps you to engage with others and stay mentally sharp.

Change your self-talk.

They say we are our own worse critic. Do you speak harshly to yourself? Do you have a negative internal voice that never has anything good to say? Me too! Just because she is saying it doesn’t make it true. Switch to words and messages that will encourage and inspire you. Positive Confidence Affirmations can help with that!

And Here’s an article on negative self talk and what to do about it!

Stay connected

Surround yourself with supportive family and friends in a way that minimizes risks. Eat dinner together as a family so you can share wholesome meals and pleasant conversation. Arrange weekly dates with friends for coffee or lunch.

Ask for help

I know this can be a hard one because it’s hard for me as well but it’s possible to get help. Reach out for assistance when you need it. Let others know what they can do to help you resolve any challenging situation. Relationships are about give and take. The best way to do this is to start with small things and gradually build trust.

Mental Self Love Exercises:

Build trust

Follow through on the promises you make to yourself and know that you can deal with life’s ups and downs. Have faith in your talents and strengths. Start with small things and work yourself up!

Practice forgiveness

Forgive yourself and others for past disappointments. Acknowledge that each of us messes up sometimes. Look at mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow instead of beating up on yourself.

Set goals

Setting goals gives yourself something to work towards. Design goals that are challenging and realistic. Write them down and share them with others to increase your sense of accountability. Well-defined goals can motivate you to achieve more and create the life you truly want.

Spiritual Self Love Exercises:

Be authentic

Take satisfaction in being true to yourself. Welcome feedback from others but trust your instincts and make your own decisions. Focus on getting to know your true self and honor who you are. If you’ve been through a big change then focus on finding yourself again to rebuild your confidence!

Develop gratitude

Being thankful makes you happier and boosts your self-esteem. Keep a gratitude journal or meditate on all the aspects of your life (positive and negative). Express your appreciation to others by letting them know how much their kindness means to you and using it to motivate you to act generously too.

Do meaningful work

Spend your time on activities that align with your values and purpose in life. Think about what you find most fulfilling about your job. You might also find gratification in hobbies, volunteering, or other areas apart from your career.

Ask spiritual questions

While you’re nurturing your body and mind, pay attention to your spirituality as well. Your faith can provide a strong foundation for understanding and loving yourself.
