How to break big goals and dreams down into daily tasks and habits

…So you can finally get started!

You have these big goal and dreams to finally *fill in blank* (become debt free, buy a home, become a business owner, travel, etc).

Woop woop!

You start wondering how you’re going to make these goals and dreams come to life?

And the overwhelm begins to set in… what if you can’t do this?

How will you make this happen?
I see introverted women entrepreneurs who have big goals and dreams but they put them off on the back burner because they don’t know where to start.

They are visionaries & creative people so they can see the promise land but how to get there isn’t clear.

I truly believe that if they knew the individual steps to take they’d reach their goals and create their dreams.

The only other problem is that the people who teach some of this stuff rely on “planner culture” and I know women like me love the IDEA of planners but the execution… can be a struggle.

So what’s a woman to do if she wants to create her dream life but isn’t exactly a “planner”?

Create habits, routines, and projects.

These things are great short-term ways of thinking about long-term goals.

The first step is to review the outcome… do you ACTUALLY want what you are looking to create? If so, why? If not, STOP! Don’t go any further.

The next step, after deciding that you ACTUALLY want what’s on the other side, is mapping it out. This is one of my favorite things to do because, while there are many ways to go about something, I almost always seek out the most efficient way.
We determine measurable milestones so you can track of your progress if you like.
We brainstorm all the things you could do that will move you forward.

Side note: The biggest problem with goals is that they are all OUTCOME focused which means you ACTUALLY have no control over what happens and how. You can only control the actions you take to get there.

Then we separate the one-time tasks from the habits and recurring activities
And Finally, we prioritize the list in the order of things that need to happen
The habits list will be added to your routine (after doing the task once)

Boom! You’ve broken your goals & dreams down into real tasks and habits.

The next step is where the rubber meets the road: taking action.

First order of business? Doing the first thing on the list. No questions asked. It’s officially due in 15 mins.

This is when you buckle down and do the the 1 time tasks!

The goal here is to get as much done AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.

That means RELEASING perfection and focus on doing. The cool thing about this is Big Mo aka Momentum is on your side once you get going. She will keep you going until you complete the list…

Unless you don’t want the outcome truly. If the outcome aka “promise land” is a should or based on something someone else said you should want/do it’ll be like pulling hard cement teeth.

That’s why it’s really important that you are connected to WHY you want this. The why is so important. Doing things just to be doing them is wasteful to your mind so it’ll fight you at every step. When you are connected to why and the consequences of not doing it you are much more deeply motivated.

Once you’re ready to get into action there’s bound to be some additional challenges. Getting started is the hardest part. Click here to read about what’s really the cause of this resistance… and don’t beat yourself up for it because it’s natural and normal.

One of the things I HIGHLY recommend is external accountability. It’s been a game-changer for me and I’m sure it can be a game-changer for you as well.
